Jungels Family to Host 2001 North Dakota Shorthorn Picnic on June 17The Dennis Jungels family of Finley will serve as hosts for the 2001 North Dakota Shorthorn Association Picnic on June 17. The Jungels’ farm is located 7 miles east and 3 1/2 miles south of Cooperstown or 6 miles west and 3 1/2 miles south of the junction of N.D. highways 200 and 32 (south of Finley or north of Pillsbury). The event is an opportunity for shorthorn producers to learn from others in the business and learn more about the shorthorn breed, according to North Dakota State University animal scientist Burt Moore. Those who attend are encouraged to bring a dish to share at the noon meal. A clipping demonstration is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., Brad Fahrmeier, commercial representative from the American Shorthorn Association will discuss developments related to the breed and answer questions. At 3:15 p.m., attendees will be able to view the Jungels’ cattle. Jungels exhibited both the Champion and Reserve Champion bulls at the 2000 North Dakota Winter Show and their most recent prospective herd sire purchase topped the Rocker Brothers sale in Nebraska after posting a 930-pound weaning weight. ### Source: Bert L.
