4-H Youth Changing Our World

The 89th annual North Dakota 4-H Extension Youth Conference, "Changing Our World," starts today at the North Dakota State University campus in Fargo and will continue through Thursday, June 21. Approximately 130 youth, ages 13 to 19, from across North Dakota are expected to attend the conference. The NDSU Extension Service sponsors the conference.

Deborah Danuser, a North Dakota 4-H Ambassador, states this year's theme "reflects the growing impact youth are making in today's world and the need for international understanding. The conference brings together over 150 people, from junior high students to recent college graduates to learn about leadership, internationalism, citizenship, and to have fun."

Attendees will learn about different cultures and countries through activities that simulate various cultures and situations, recreational tracks, and guest speakers. Other activities planned for the week include an international food festival, dances, a semi-formal banquet, and community involvement projects in which the conference participants will volunteer at area Fargo-Moorhead charities.

The conference is planned and conducted by the North Dakota 4-H Ambassadors. The Ambassadors, ages 16 to 22, are a select group of current and former 4-H members from across the state who enhance and promote 4-H Extension youth programs to all people.
