Soybean Day Scheduled at Carrington Dec.12Soybean Day is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec.12, at the North Dakota State University Carrington Research Extension Center to provide soybean production and economic information for farmers and crop advisers. Registration will start at 8:45 a.m. The program will begin at 9:15 with discussion of soybean variety performance and selection. Other morning presentations include results and recommendations from a planting technology trial, pest management overview, and soybean growth and development. The afternoon agenda includes seed inoculation, nitrogen management, reducing iron chlorosis, and seed protein, soybean economics and a grower discussion panel. NDSU speakers include Blaine Schatz, Carrington Center director and agronomist; Greg Endres, extension area agronomist; Bob Henson, research agronomist; Richard Maine, Wells County extension agent; Ted Helms, soybean breeder; and Jay Goos, soil scientist. In addition, Glen Nagel, Soybean Council representative and Steve Metzger, North Dakota Farm Business Management program coordinator, will speak. Three continuing education credits for Certified Crop Advisers have been requested for this educational program. The NDSU Extension Service in Eddy,Foster, Stutsman, Wells and Sheridan counties and the Carrington REC are organizing and conducting the event also supported by the North Dakota Soybean Council.
