Changes Made to NDSU Beef Quality Assurance Training Schedule

A new training session has been added to those already scheduled for North Dakota beef producers who want to receive certification in the North Dakota Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program. Organizers also announced that one session has been canceled.

A session has been added for Thursday Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. at Big John’s Café in Edgeley. The meeting scheduled for Dec. 4 in Garrison has been cancelled.

Producers who want their calves to receive beef quality assurance certification next year must receive training by the end of the year, according to Lisa Lee, beef quality assurance specialist with the North Dakota State University Extension Service.

The sessions will include information on management and herd health techniques that improve beef quality. Emphasis will be given to minimizing damage to beef cuts by giving injections ahead of the front shoulder. The fee for the training sessions is $15.

Additional training sessions that are scheduled for this year include:

Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Towner at the Memorial Building.

Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. in Plaza at the Plaza Depot.

Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in Williston in the basement of the Williams County Courthouse.

Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Wyndmere at the Wyndmere Firehall.

Contact the county office of the NDSU Extension Service nearest the scheduled session to confirm locations. For more information, contact Lee at (701) 328-5134 or lisalee@ndsuext.nodak.edu .
