Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop Set Feb. 21-22 in Fargo

The 10th annual Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Feb. 21 and 22, at the Memorial Union on the North Dakota State University campus in Fargo. This workshop is designed for agricultural professionals who advise farmers with crop production recommendations. The event is organized and conducted by the NDSU and Minnesota Extension Services.

Topics to be covered during training sessions include: nutrient credits and comprehensive nutrient management plans, crop rotations, effect of crop rotation and tillage on mycorrhizae and nutrient uptake, crop rotation effect on weeds, continuous glyphosate-herbicide vs. conventional-herbicide rotations, food and environmental safety issues with biotechnology, opportunities for growing and marketing identity-preserved crops, and integrating technology into crop advising.

The workshop keynote speaker is Senator Byron Dorgan, who will discuss new farm bill development and implications to crop advisers and farm clients during the noon hour on Feb. 21.

A total of 10.5 continuing education units for the Certified Crop Advisers (CCA) program will be available to workshop participants.

Preregistration is requested and workshop enrollment is limited. The registration fee of $125 is requested by Feb.15.
