The NDSU Pre-Vet Club nominated Tilton. Melanie Miller, president of the Pre-Vet Club, commented, "We want to note his dedication to students, and his enthusiasm for animal science. One thing that makes Dr.Tilton a notable professor is that his passion for animal science is infectious." Larry Reynolds, professor of animal science, commented, "Dr. Tilton is an outstanding teacher. He has a heartfelt dedication for his students. He also is an innovator, using technology to benefit and advance his teaching styles." Tilton commented, "To be recognized by your students is the ultimate. It was a total surprise and I greatly appreciate the nomination and the fact that the students in the College of Agriculture chose me as the recipient."
