Records Indicate Increase in 2001 N.D. Farm Family Living Expenses (5/16/02) The average living expenditures of farm families was $38,053 in 2001, an increase of nearly $1,200, or 3.2 percent, compared to 2000 living expenses. The size of the increase was the same as the change in the general level of prices as measured by the U.S. Consumer Price Index according to farm management specialist Andrew Swenson.
