Youth Entrepreneurship Workshops ScheduledWorkshops providing training in youth entrepreneurship for teachers and youth workers are scheduled for Willison June 11-13, Bismarck June 18-20, Grand Forks June 24-26, Fargo July 30-August 1 and Carrington Aug. 5-7. According to Kathleen Tweeten, economic development specialist with the North Dakota State University Extension Service, seven out of 10 young people in a recent Gallup poll indicated they would like to start their own business. Nine out of 10 students said they wish they received more information on youth entrepreneurship in school. "Youth in North Dakota won’t have to says this," Tweeten says. "The NDSU Extension Service is offering a wonderful opportunity for training in youth entrepreneurship for teachers, 4-H leaders and other youth group workers." The workshops are designed especially for adults working with youth in grades 3 to 7. The fees are minimal, she says, and there is a stipend available for the first 20 paid registrations. Participants can also obtain one graduate level continuing education credit from NDSU. The curriculum used is "Mini-Society" from the Kaufmann Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. It is an experience-based approach to teaching children entrepreneurship concepts, says Tweeten. For information and to register contact local county offices of the NDSU Extension Service or Tweeten at (701) 328-5134. ### Source: Kathy Tweeten, (701) 328-5134, ktweeten@ndsuext.nodak.edu |
