ND State Board of Agricultural Research and Education Appoints Two New Members

Two new board members were approved by the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education to oversee agricultural research and extension at North Dakota State University.

The board named Edmund Goerger and Vernon Mayer to the North Dakota State Board of Agricultural Research and Education at the April meeting.

Georger is a native of Wyndmere where his wife and three children farm 1500 acres. He is a graduate of NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics. Goerger is a North Dakota Soybean Council Research Committee member, served as director of the North Dakota Soybean Growers Association Board (NDSGA) for four years and served two years as NDSGA president.

Mayer operates a family farm near Regent. He has served on the board of directors for AgGrows Oils, now Oilseed Growers. He also has been a member of ND Agricultural Products Utilization Commission and is active in local and community organizations.

The board was established by the North Dakota Legislature in 1997 with responsibilities to oversee agricultural research and extension at NDSU. George Heller and Ryan Brooks will leave the board on June 30 when their terms expire.
