Williston Research Extension Center to Hold Field Day on July 11

The annual field day at the North Dakota State University Williston Research Extension Center will be held Thursday, July 11.

The events will start at 8:45 a.m. (CDT) with coffee and donuts and the crops field tour will begin at 9:30 a.m. The center is located 4 1/2 miles west of Williston on U.S. Highway 2. NDSU research and extension specialists will discuss crop varieties, weeds, crop diseases, high value crops and NDSU’s policy and research on transgenic crops. A horticulture program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Ernie French Center with topics including flowers, lawns and gardens.

A noon lunch will be sponsored by area agribusinesses and the Williston Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee.

The afternoon program will begin at 1 p.m. featuring a biodiesel demonstration, a presentation on a variable rate fertilizer application project and an alternative crop update featuring flax, mustard, field peas, chickpeas, canola and lentils. The program will conclude at approximately 4 p.m.
