Field Day Scheduled for July 15 at NDSU's Agronomy Seed Farm Near CasseltonThe annual field day at North Dakota State University's Agronomy Seed Farm is set for Monday, July 15. Highlights will include NDSU crop variety development and crop management research. The field day will open at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments and registration. Tours begin at 6 p.m. The Agronomy Seed Farm is located one mile south of Casselton and one mile west on the frontage road which parallels I-94 on its north side. The event will close with a free supper. Refreshments will be provided by the Cass County Crop Improvement Association. During the event, NDSU plant breeders will discuss progress in developing new varieties of hard red and hard white spring wheat, durum, two- and six-rowed barley, oats and new crops. NDSU weed scientists will present advances in weed control. There will also be presentations on biofuels and an update on NDSU efforts in transgenic crops. NDSU Extension Service specialists will be available for individual consultations and to present a general overview of regional conditions related to their specialties including an update on scouting and monitoring for soybean aphid.
