Remote Sensing Applications Seminars Set
(8/8/02) Producers, technicians and land managers who are currently using satellite imagery and other remotely sensed data in North Dakota will be featured in remote sensing application seminars in August in Devils Lake, Bismarck and Dickinson. North Dakota Sees Increase in Divorce (8/8/02) The number of divorced persons in north Dakota increased 35 percent between 1990 and 2000, according to the recent Population Bulletin released from the North Dakota State Data Center. Director Richard Rathge says some of the divorces may be linked to economic stress.  MORE

Grain Auger Safety Is Critical, Says Safety Expert (8/8/02) Grain augers have a reputation for farm injuries. According to a North Dakota State University agriculture safety expert, 37 injuries have been reported in North Dakota since 1993. These injuries could have been prevented if simple precautions were taken, he says.  MORE



Farm Owners and Operators Need to Verify Planting History
(8/2/02) Farm Service agency county offices are sending notification letters that include a summary acreage history report to all farm operators and owners. Owners and operators need to verify the accuracy of the acreage history report as soon as possible or they may miss out on potential program payments for the 2002-2007 crop years, says farm management specialist Dwight Aakre.  MORE

New Publication Shows Trends in N.D. Farm Financial Performance (8/2/02) In 2001, farms with less than 40 percent debt were five times as likely to have net farm income in excess of $50,000 than farms with greater than 70 percent debt.
