4-H Members Awarded High Point Horse Awards at N.D. State Fair

Six 4-H members won high point awards at the 4-H horse show at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot July 22-24. The 4-H horsemanship classes included the Western events of showmanship at halter, Western horsemanship, trail class, Western riding and reining; the time events of pole bending and barrel racing; and the English events of hunt seat equitation, hunter hack and equitation over fences. Points were awarded by placement in all events in which members participated. Classes were divided by age 11 and under, 12 to 14 and 15 to 18 years old.

The following winners are listed by age division, placing, name and hometown.

Age Division: 11 and under

Champion: Kelsey Champagne, Jamestown
Runner-up: Katelyn Fitzgerald, Sawyer

Age Division: 12 to 14

Champion: Dennis Pathroff, Bismarck
Runner-up: Ashley Montgomery, Grands Forks

Age Division: 15 to 18

Champion: Savanna Langley, Bismarck
Runner-up: Makayla Nyre, Minot

Champion awards were sponsored by Stockmen’s Supply, Fargo; Blair’s Power Vac, Bismarck; and Montana-Dakota Utilities, Bismarck.

Runner-up awards were sponsored by the 4-H Horse Program advisory committee.
