Zeleznik Joins NDSU Extension ServiceJoe Zeleznik recently joined the North Dakota State University Extension Service as extension forester. Zeleznik, a native of Ohio, received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. He went on to get his M.S. in forestry from West Virginia University. He finished his education at Michigan State University, receiving his Ph.D. in forestry. Zeleznik conducted research in the areas of surface mine reclamation, fire ecology/silviculture and tree physiology of hybrid poplars. He has taught classes at Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, and the State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry Ranger School. At NDSU, Zeleznik will be responsible for state-wide
extension education activities pertaining to forestry and natural resources.
Additionally, he will teach the introduction to prairie and community
