North Dakotan is Honored for Contributions to National 4-H CouncilLynn Luckow, from Hettinger, North Dakota, was honored by the National 4-H Council with the granting of a $10,000 endowment to the North Dakota 4-H Foundation. This endowment, in recognition of Luckow’s five years as chair to the National 4-H Council will be named the Lynn Luckow Learning Award, and will be used to provide annual learning experiences for the youth in our state. Luckow, a University of North Dakota graduate, is currently serving as President and CEO of the Northern California Grantmakers (NCG). NCG is an association of foundations, corporate contributions programs and other private grantmakers. Luckow has directed a majority of his professional endeavors to improving the effectiveness and performance of non-profit organizations and charitable agencies. As chair of the National 4-H Council, Luckow established ten trustee positions for youth with full voting power. He also serves as chair for the national board of the GRAMMY award-winning choral ensemble Chanticleer. Luckow is retired from the board of the National AIDS Foundation and the board of Project Open Hand, the world’s largest provider of hot meals, nutrition counseling and food staples for persons with AIDS. According to Sharon Anderson, director of the North Dakota State University Extension Service and vice-chair of the National 4-H Council, this is a great honor for Luckow and his native state. "We are especially proud to have a North Dakotan, Lynn Luckow, provide leadership for the National 4-H Council Board of Trustees for the past five years," Anderson says. "Lynn has been a true leader by providing a vision for youth programming, guiding the board through many strategic processes and helping the 4-H movement in this country celebrate its 100th birthday. Lynn truly cares about young people, shares generously of his time and talents and is proud of his roots in North Dakota." ### Source: Sharon Anderson, (701)231-7867, sanderso@ndsuext.nodak.edu
