Soybean Day Scheduled at Carrington on Dec. 11Soybean Day is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the North Dakota State University Carrington Research Extension Center to provide soybean production and economic information for farmers and crop advisers. The NDSU Extension Service is organizing and conducting the event. Registration will start at 9 a.m. The program will begin at 9:30 with soybean plant nutrition, including discussion on seed inoculation, and nitrogen and phosphorus management. Other morning presentations include results and recommendations from a planting technology trial and a discussion of economics, including soybean production costs and returns. The afternoon agenda includes a N.D. Soybean Council and Growers Association update; crop rotation considerations with soybean; disease and weed management; and a soybean grower discussion panel. NDSU speakers include Bob Henson, research agronomist; Dave Franzen, extension soils specialist; Greg Endres, extension area agronomist; Duane Berglund, extension agronomist; Carl Bradley, extension plant pathologist; and Kirk Howatt, research weed scientist. Steve Metzger, N.D. Farm Business Management program area coordinator, will provide the economics information. Two and one-half continuing education credits for Certified Crop Advisers have been requested for this event.
