Livestock Waste Management Workshops Set

A series of workshops will be held across the state to help producers understand new rules recently announced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for concentrated feeding operations. The North Dakota State University Extension Service is sponsoring these workshops which will also help producers better use and manage manure nutrients in crop management.

"Many livestock producers are concerned about how the new rules will affect them," explains Charles Linderman, livestock waste management specialist with the NDSU Extension Service. "The workshops will help producers understand the environmental risks associated will their operations, how environmental rules and regulations will affect them and what cost sharing programs are available to help them minimize environmental risks while complying with regulations."

Sessions are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

  • Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. in Center at the Civic Center
  • Jan. 9 at 10 a.m. in Wishek at the Prairie Winds Restaurant
  • Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. in Rhame at the Rhame Legion Hall
  • Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. in Napoleon at the Courthouse
  • Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. in Raleigh at the Dog Tooth Inn
  • Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. in Towner at the Ranch House Restaurant
  • Jan. 30 at 12:30 p.m. in New Salem at the Morton County Fairgrounds
  • Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. in Hettinger at the Hettinger Research Extension Center
  • Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. in Williston at a location to be announced
  • Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. in Watford City at a location to be announced
  • Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. in Killdeer at the Buckskin Bar & Grill
  • Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. in Carrington at the Carrington Research Extension Center
  • Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. in Lisbon at the Courthouse
  • Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. in Sterling at a location to be announced
