Canola Research Tour Scheduled for July 10

The Langdon Research Extension Center and Northern Canola Growers Association will host a canola research tour on July 10, 2003 at the Langdon Research Extension Center one mile east of Langdon, North Dakota on highway five. The tour begins at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude with a complimentary noon meal for tour participants.

The purpose of the event is to give canola growers an in-depth look at the canola research being conducted at the Langdon Research Extension Center, according to Randy Mehlhoff, center director.

Insect management will be discussed during the tour, including a comparison of leafy spurge flea beetles and flea beetles that attack the canola plant. Canola fertility and disease management will also be evaluated. In addition, producers will have the opportunity to view and compare canola variety trials.

Following the tour, a four-man best ball tournament will be held at the Langdon Country Club. Registration is $25 per person and is open to the public. Pre-registration is required. For more information on the tour and golf tournament, contact the Northern Canola Growers Association at 701-223-4124.
