Sept. 5-7 WOW! Focuses on Wellness, Relaxation and FunThe fourth annual Women’s Overall Wellness retreat (WOW!) will be held at the Assumption Abbey in Richardton, N.D., Sept. 5-7. WOW! is a great way for women to take a break and gather their inner resources after a busy summer, says Beth Roth, committee member who is an NDSU Extension Service agent in Adams and Hettinger counties. Roth says the weekend will feature inspirational speakers, enthusiasm for healthy living, relaxation and fun, comradeship and Abbey food. Returning is keynote speaker Jean Beyer, provost emeritus of Nebraska Methodist College of Nursing and Allied Health, and adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. "Beyer is a highly acclaimed speaker whose humorous and motivational style makes learning about the stages of adult life an unforgettable and inspirational experience," says Roth. Beyer will present three programs during the weekend. The Friday evening lead-off session is "Celebrating Health at Every Size" by Francie Berg, licensed nutritionist and family wellness specialist from Hettinger. Jane Edwards, NDSU Extension nutrition specialist, will follow with "Dashing to the Dakota Diet." Other weekend speakers include Dr. Kent Hoerauf, who will provide the latest on hormone replacement therapy, and Dr. Steve Kilwein, who will explain foot problems and how to choose the right shoe for your foot. A pre-conference workshop on feeding your mind will help participants travel through the "Cheese Maze" as a fun and effective way of talking to others about change, led by Deb Theurer, NDSU Extension parenting resources coordinator based in Dickinson. Registration deadline for the retreat is Aug. 29 with $50 of the $100 fee due at this time. Space is limited. For more information, call Roth at (701) 567-2735 or write Women’s Retreat, NDSU Extension Service -- Adams County, P.O. Box 1100, Hettinger, ND 58639. WOW! is sponsored by the NDSU Extension Service and West River Health Services of Hettinger, N.D. ### Source: Beth Roth, (701) 567-2735,
