Livestock Environmental Stewardship Workshop Set for Mandan

A Livestock Environmental Stewardship Workshop will be held Nov. 3-5 in Mandan to provide training to technical service providers, county agents and other individuals interested in working in this aspect of the livestock industry.

The workshop will be held at the Seven Seas Inn and Conference Center. A registration fee of $140 will cover the cost of the conference and a printed copy of the Livestock and Poultry Environmental Stewardship curriculum.

Registration is due by Oct. 24. The workshop is recommended for those intending to become certified as a technical service provider in the area of comprehensive nutrient management plans for animal feeding operations, U.S. Natural Resource Conservation Service field office personnel working with comprehensive nutrient management plans, and anyone interested in understanding all aspects of the plans. Those attending should have a general knowledge of agricultural production and conservation.

Participants will become knowledgeable in principles of environmental stewardship for animal feeding operations. Covered principles include animal dietary strategies, manure storage and treatment, land application of manure, manure nutrient management, outdoor air quality, mortality management, emergency action plans, and regulatory compliance.
