NDSU Schedules Beef Quality Assurance Training Sessions

A series of training sessions has been scheduled for North Dakota beef producers who want to receive certification or be recertified in the North Dakota Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program.

Producers who want their calves to receive beef quality assurance certification next year must receive training by the end of the year, according to Lisa Pederson, beef quality assurance specialist with the North Dakota State University Extension Service.

The sessions will include information on management and herd health techniques that improve beef quality. Emphasis will be given to minimizing damage to beef cuts by giving injections ahead of the front shoulder. The fee for the training sessions is $15.

Training sessions are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. in Beach at the American Legion.

Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Squaw Gap in the Community Hall.

Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. in Mott at the Hettinger County Courthouse-Legion Hall.

Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m. in Enderlin at the VFW.

Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. in Golden Valley at the Fire Hall.

Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Killdeer at the Buckskin Bar.

Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. in New Town at the Fort Berthold Community College.

Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. in Bottineau at the Bottineau County Courthouse conference room.

Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in McLeod at the Hall.

Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m. in Milnor at the Community Center.

Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Maddock at the Community Center.

Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Tappen at City Hall.

Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. in Carson at the Grant County Fair Building.

Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. in Gackle at the Senior Center.

Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. in Bowman at City Hall.

Dec. 18 at 12:30 p.m. in Mandan at the Morton County Courthouse.

Sessions are also being planned at other dates and locations across the state. Watch local media for details.
