Wild World of Weeds Workshop Set for JanuaryThe Wild World of Weeds Workshop will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Ramada Plaza Suites and Conference Center in Fargo. The one-day workshop is sponsored by the North Dakota State University Extension Service. NDSU weed scientists and IR-4 program specialists will present information. Topics addressed will be 2003 field research summary, the impact of IR-4 on minor crop registrations in North Dakota, controlling Roundup Ready crop volunteers, biology and herbicide efficacy on common lambsquarters and wild buckwheat. There will be update on WeedIT, the NDSU weed control database and herbicide selection program. Participants that bring their laptops can install the latest version and preview the program. There will be two breakout sessions where participants can choose from four topics: controlling weeds through crop rotation, enhancing herbicide activity through adjuvants, new herbicide resistant crop technologies and new findings in wild oat resistance. There will also be a question-and-answer period with weed researchers. The workshop is for agricultural professionals who advise growers on weed control and herbicide use, crop consultants, agronomists, agricultural dealers and distributors, extension agents and industry representatives. The workshop is open to all but participants must pre-register and pre-pay. The workshop fee is $70 per person and must be received with completed registration form by Jan. 5.
