Crop Science Society of America Honors Dwain Meyer

The Crop Science Society of America has honored Dwain Meyer, North Dakota State University Plant Science Department, as a Fellow of the society. Meyer specializes in forage production and physiology focusing mainly on alfalfa. He was given the honor recently at a joint meeting in Denver of the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) and the American Society of Agronomy (ASA).

Fellow is the highest honor bestowed on members of ASA, CSSA and SSA. Fellows are active Society members who have been nominated because of their superior achievement in research, education, public service, personal achievement, recognition, service and a minimum of 10 years of Society membership.

"I’m very honored to receive the Fellow," Meyer says. "If there is one thing I wanted to obtain before I retire, that was it." Meyer was among 11 Society members awarded the Fellow this year.

Meyer is in his 34th year of service to NDSU. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanized agriculture from the University of Nebraska and his doctorate in agronomy from Iowa State University.

The Crop Science Society of America has almost 3,700 members in more than 100 countries. The goal of the Society is to advance the discipline of crop science by acquiring and disseminating information about crops in relation to genetics and plant breeding, crop physiology, crop production and quality, turfgrass management, crop germplasm resources and environmental quality.
