January 22, 2004 Information and Technology Workshop for Improving Wheat Yield and Profit A workshop, High Profit Wheat, will be offered Friday, Jan. 30, and Friday, Feb. 6, to provide producers with the latest information on how to improve wheat yields and profits, according to Joel Ransom, North Dakota State University Extension Service cereal crops agronomist. “Wheat is the most important crop in terms of area planted and total production in North Dakota,” Ransom says. “However yield gains the past two decades have been modest when compared to some other crops such as corn and soybean. But through that period, new varieties, equipment and production technologies have been developed that enable higher and more consistent yields. At the workshop, producers will hear from NDSU experts on the results of recent research. New equipment with potential for improving efficiencies and precision in the farm operation will be discussed as well as tips on how to get the best price.” The workshop will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 30 and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 6. The workshop will be broadcast to these sites on Jan. 30. County Contact Telephone Video Site
