2004 Eastern Crop Scout School Set for March 1-3

The Eastern Crop Scout School will be held at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, March 1-3. This three-day program is designed to teach the basics in weed, disease and insect identification, as well as scouting procedures, according to Janet Knodel, area crop protection specialist from the North Dakota State University Extension Service.

In addition, special sessions will be devoted to important pest and production issues for eight major crops:

  • Canola
  • Potatoes
  • Wheat
  • Corn
  • Soybean
  • Sunflower
  • Sugar beet, and
  • Dry bean

Speakers will include state and area extension specialists, experiment station faculty, private crop consultants and agronomists.

A total of 17.5 CEU credits will be available from the Certified Crop Advisers program, and reference materials will be provided. The registration fee is $135 and the deadline is Feb. 13. A $25 late fee will be charged for registrations received after this date.
