2004 Western Crop and Pest Management School Scheduled for Feb. 25-26

The Western Crop and Pest Management School will be held at the North Central Research Extension Center in Minot, Feb. 25-26. This two-day program will prepare individuals to be successful field scouts and also update agricultural professionals on the latest research and pest management practices, according to Janet Knodel, area crop protection specialist from the North Dakota State University Extension Service.

Area and state extension specialists, researchers and agronomists will be presenting on a variety of topics including:

  • Fertility issues
  • Herbicide and weed updates
  • Wheat management
  • GMO wheat
  • Pesticide groundwater protection
  • Insect updates, and
  • Canola disease threats

The keynote speaker, Dilantha Fernando, University of Manitoba, will present his research on the new strain of blackleg on canola.

A total of 12.5 CPU credits will be available from the Certified Crop Advisers program, and appropriate educational materials will be provided. The registration fee is $100 per person and the deadline is Feb. 15. A $25 late fee will be charged for registrations received after this date.
