February Feedlot School Scheduled in Southwest North Dakota

A two-day feedlot school will be held at the North Dakota State University Hettinger Research Extension Center, Tuesday, Feb. 24, and Wednesday, Feb. 25. This intensive short course will teach principles of feedlot production, nutrition, management and marketing.

A $100 registration fee ($150 for two from the same operation) will be charged to cover the cost of materials provided during the course. Each participant will receive a binder complete with all handouts, reference guides and additional materials. The fee does not include hotel accommodations or non-group meals.

The course is limited to 30 participants and the deadline for registration is Feb. 17. As room permits, registrations may be accepted after Feb. 17. Refunds will be available if the course fills or is cancelled. For more information, contact Leif Anderson at (701) 567-4323 or Greg Lardy at (701) 231-7660.

Instructors for the course include faculty from the NDSU Department of Animal and Range Sciences, Hettinger Research Extension Center, NDSU Extension Service and South Dakota State University Extension Service who have experience working with Northern Plains feedlots.

Participants will be trained in all aspects of feedlot management both inside and out of the classroom. Cattle producers, feeders, backgrounders, feed industry personnel and animal health suppliers are among those encouraged to attend.
