March 4, 2004 NDSU Horse Fair Set for March 27-28 A horse fair featuring demonstrations, educational workshops, a riding clinic and a trade show is set for Saturday, March 27, and Sunday, March 28, at the North Dakota State University Equine Center. The Center is located adjacent to the North Dakota Horse Park just off 19th Avenue North in Fargo. The demonstrations, workshops and trade show will be held on Saturday and the riding clinic will be featured on Sunday. Admission on Saturday is $3 per individual and $5 for a family. A $150 fee is being charged for riders wishing to participate in the riding clinic. Spectators will be charged a $15 admittance fee. Workshops will cover topics such as what to look for when purchasing a horse, equine nutrition, forage management and West Nile virus. A ferrier, dentist and horse massage therapist will be available in the “Education Alley.” Various breeds of horses, including some rare breeds will be available for viewing. Numerous vendors will have booths and the Denim and Diamonds Drill Team will perform. John Hovde, Epping, ND, will conduct the riding clinic on Sunday. He has been called the North Dakota “Horse Whisperer” for his work with horses. “He teaches people to communicate with their horse by doing it the horse’s way,” according to Stephanie Bradley, Equine Club president. “He will be working with eight riders so those interested in the riding clinic should register as soon as possible.” The NDSU Equine Club is organizing the fair. “Hopefully, the horse fair will become a yearly event,” Bradley says.
