March 11, 2004 Spring Horticulture Workshop Scheduled for March 27 A Spring Horticulture workshop will be held at the North Dakota State University Research Extension Center in Carrington on Saturday, March 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. Larry Chaput, NDSU Department of Plant Sciences, will present “Exploring the Perennial Palette.” Chaput will provide information on the vast array of perennials suitable for northern climates. Gwen Hoverson, owner of Hwy 200 Greenhouse, will talk about some of the colorful new annuals available this spring. In addition, “Landscaping for Wildlife” will be presented by Jason Weinerman of the North Dakota Forest Service. Participants will learn what to plant to attract birds and will receive information on how to deter unwanted wildlife from invading yards. The afternoon will conclude with a presentation by Dale Herman, NDSU Department of Plant Sciences. Herman will update participants on some of the new woody plant introductions for the northern plains. The NDSU Research Extension Center is located 3 1/2 miles north of Carrington on Highway 281. The workshop is offered free of charge and is co-sponsored by NDSU, the North Dakota Forest Service and local merchants. ### Source:
