Art and Grace Link to Enter 4-H Hall of Fame

Art and Grace Link of Bismarck have been named the 2004 inductees into the North Dakota 4-H Hall of Fame. Link served as Governor of North Dakota from 1973-1980. The induction will take place at the Hall of Fame banquet on June 23 in Fargo. The banquet is held in conjunction with the North Dakota 4-H Extension Youth Conference.

As the Link’s children were growing up in Alexander, Art and Grace served as leaders in the Lads and Lassies 4-H Club. As project leaders, they helped members in their club complete various projects and prepare for county events.

At the county level, they were involved with 4-H events including contests and the county fair. During the 1960s, they helped with the organization and establishment of the new McKenzie County Fairgrounds. Years later, they again became involved in the establishment of a 4-H building. The Links were instrumental in the construction of the Burleigh County 4-H Building.

Art and Grace have been long time supporters of the North Dakota 4-H Foundation and of the North Dakota Extension program and its staff. “4-H was always a family activity in our home,” says their son Harvey.
