June 3, 2004 Field Inspection Applications Due North Dakota seed producers who plan to produce certified seed must apply for field inspections with the North Dakota State Seed Department. The deadline for application is June 15 for all crops except buckwheat, conventional soybeans and millet, which is July 15. New application forms are available from county extension offices statewide, North Dakota State University research extension centers and the seed department. The forms were updated recently to reflect the new fee schedule and old forms should not be used. Proper seed tags or bulk certificates, FSA field maps and full payment must accompany all applications. All applications must be received in the department’s office or be postmarked by the deadlines or a late fee of $1 per acre will be assessed. Recent heavy rainfall has slowed planting in some areas of the state, but growers are still encouraged to submit field inspection applications on time. That will ensure that inspectors will not inadvertently miss a field due to late paperwork. If necessary, growers may cancel a field later and the inspection fee less a $20 administrative charge will be refunded. ### Media Contact: Steve Sebesta, (701) 231-5400, ND STATE SEED DEPARTMENT |
