Field Day Set for Williston Research Extension Center

The annual field day at the Williston Research Extension Center will be held Thursday, July 8, 2004. The Center is located 4 1/2 miles west of Williston on Highway 2. To start the day, coffee will be served at 8:30 a.m. (CDT). Jerry Bergman, Neil Riveland and the staff at the Center will be in charge of tours.

The crop field tour begins at 9:30 a.m. North Dakota State University and Montana State University research and extension specialists will discuss small grain varieties, weed control, crop diseases and pulse crops.

A separate horticulture program for those who enjoy flowers and gardens will begin at 10 a.m. in the Ernie French Center. This year’s feature topic is small fruit production for wine making.

At noon, the traditional barbecued chicken lunch will be served. The meal is sponsored by area agribusinesses and the Williston Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Committee.

The afternoon program will begin at 1 p.m. featuring discussions on home septic systems and their operation, as well as presentations on corn, hard red winter wheat and oil seed crops including flax and canola.

The program will conclude at approximately 3:15 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend and participate in all field day activities.
