Summer Dairy Farm Yard Socials

The North Dakota Dairy Coalition (NDDC) will hold informational meetings, tours and farm yard socials July 12 through 15. Participants will learn about the progress the coalition has made and what its future plans are, hear from guest speaker Kim Schoonmaker, Dairy Herd Management magazine associate editor and have an opportunity to visit with other dairy families.

The first social will be held Monday, July 12 at the Tellman Dairy in New Salem. The dairy is located four and a half miles north of I-94 off the New Salem exit which is exit 127. The program begins at 7 p.m. (CDT).

Karsky Dairy of Dickinson will be the host on Tuesday, July 13 starting at 1 p.m. (MDT). Take Exit 59 off of I-94, go one mile north then one and a half miles west.

The final social will be held at Qual Dairy in Lisbon on Thursday, July 15 starting at 10 a.m. (CDT). The dairy is located six miles south of Lisbon on Highway 32 then two miles east on 73rd street.

The socials will begin with a tour of the dairy facilities by the host family. Following the tour, participants will have a chance to learn about the coalition’s plans for 2005 and beyond. As guest speaker, Schoonmaker will discuss “Five Issues Your Business Will Face in the Next Five Years.”

Refreshments and lunch will be served compliments of the Midwest Dairy Association. Biosecurity enforced bio-boots will be given away compliments of Stockmen’s Supply.
