Field Pea Tour at Carrington on July 20

The North Dakota State University Carrington Research Extension Center will host a pulse crop field tour on Tuesday, July 20. NDSU and the North Dakota Dry Pea and Lentil Association are organizing and conducting the tour. The tour will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude with a complementary lunch.

The tour will provide practical information for prospective and experienced field pea growers on crop production and utilization. Field pea variety performance, plant nutrition, and weed and disease management will be discussed by Blaine Schatz, Bob Henson and Greg Endres, Carrington Center agronomists. Also, pea production economics and current market opportunities will be addressed. In addition, Vern Anderson, Carrington Center animal scientist, will discuss the benefits of including field pea in the diet of feedlot steers.
