September 20, 2004 Statewide Financial Literacy Education Course Being Offered The North Dakota State University Extension Service is offering a financial literacy education course intended to train educators, 4-H leaders, bankers, other professionals and volunteers the best methods used to reach youth about financial management. The course will include two videoconferencing sessions on Oct. 4 and Nov. 8 from 4-6 p.m. followed by additional online course work. The course is made possible by a grant from McGraw Hill through the Jumpstart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. Curriculum for the class will include online resources and Web sites used to develop lesson plans. Participants will develop and share four lesson plans throughout the training session. The scheduled conferencing sites are the Burleigh County Extension Office, Ramsey County Extension Center in Devils Lake, NDSU in Fargo, Grand Forks Public Schools Educational Center, Fessenden High School, Richland County Courthouse in Wahpeton and the NDSU North Central Research Extension Center in Minot. The cost of the conference is $100 for 2 continuing education credits. Twenty-five scholarships in the amount of $75 each will be awarded. Registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 30.
