NDSU to Sponsor Club Calf Sale and Steer Show

The North Dakota State University club calf sale and steer show will be Dec. 4-5 in conjunction with the North Star Classic show in Valley City, N.D. Calves sold through the club calf sale are eligible to compete in the junior steer show the following day.

The NDSU Judging Club has hosted the club calf sale for five years. This year, NDSU’s Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the judging club have teamed up to also sponsor the steer show. Premiums for the show will be divided out of $1,000.

Seventeen area breeders have consigned 35 calves from top sires such as Who Made Who, Heat Wave, Strictly Business and many other club calf sires. Zac Hall, a senior majoring in animal and range sciences, from Berthold, N.D, is the manager for this year’s sale.

"We have another solid set of calves to be offered this year,” says Hall. “The consignors always bring high-quality calves and many have gone on to win honors during their respective show seasons, including both the North Dakota and Minnesota State fairs."

For more information, contact Hall at (701) 730-0216, Kris Petersen at (701) 339-0305 or Collin Galbreath at (701) 710-0531. Purple Haven from New Salem, N.D., will provide the auctioneering.
