Tom Wolf to Speak at Wild World of Weeds Workshop

The Wild World of Weeds Workshop will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Ramada Plaza Suites and Conference Center in Fargo. Tom Wolf, University of Saskatchewan application technology specialist, is the featured speaker for the conference. The North Dakota State University Extension Service sponsors the one-day workshop.

NDSU and Canadian weed scientists will present information on a variety of environmental and weed science topics. The conference will begin at 9 a.m. with an update on 2004 NDSU field science research. Wolf will give a presentation on application technology at 1 p.m. Following, four breakout sessions will be available. Participants can choose from topics such as:

  • Field scouting and investigative techniques
  • Application technology - Part II
  • Weed response to the environment
  • Herbicide mode of action and weed resistance update

The workshop is intended for agricultural professionals who advise growers on weed control and herbicide use, crop consultants, agronomists, agricultural dealers and distributors, extension agents and industry representatives.

Lodging is available at the Ramada Plaza Suites (701) 277-9000. A reduced rate is available for those attending the workshop. Pre-registration and payment is required for workshop participants. The participation fee is $70 per person and must be received with a completed registration form by Monday, Jan. 17. Registration forms are available at www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu/weeds.
