Judges Select 5 Young Adults as North Dakota 4-H Ambassadors

A panel of judges recently chose five young adults to serve as North Dakota 4-H ambassadors.

The five are Andrea Blohm, Mercer County; Tara Bohrer, Mercer County; Jessyca Crow, Kidder County; Jill Naaden, Emmons County; and Trent Stromme, Ramsey County. They are among 52 4-H ambassadors in the state.

North Dakota 4-H ambassadors are young adults ages 16 to 22 who specialize in planning and facilitating 4-H events, workshops, training sessions, regional events and county activities across the state.

“4-H ambassadors strive to create events that are fun, educational and skill building, and promote self-improvement,” said Craig Kleven, co-adviser for the North Dakota 4-H ambassador program.

Major events they help organize include the annual statewide 4-H Extension youth conference, held every year during the third week of June at North Dakota State University. The event is a leadership conference open to all youth ages 13 to 18, not just 4-H members.

Another big event is the State Fair in Minot, where the ambassadors help 4-H volunteers and county and state NDSU Extension Service staff with 4-H events.

Ten candidates competed for the ambassador positions. Candidates were required to complete an application, participate in a formal interview and team problem-solving event, give an impromptu speech and conduct activities with grade school youth.
