North Dakota 4-H Foundation Names Lynn Luckow Leadership Award Winner

The North Dakota 4-H Foundation has selected Valerie Johnson, a North Dakota State University student from Benson County, as the first recipient of the Lynn Luckow Leadership Award.

Johnson plans to use the $1,000 award to attend the National Change Agent States for Diversity Conference in Greensboro, N.C., in April.

She is working toward a bachelor of science degree in family and consumer sciences. She is a member of Collegiate 4-H and has been active in a wide range of 4-H activities, including serving as a state 4-H ambassador.

Part of the funding for the Lynn Luckow Leadership Award comes from a National 4-H Council gift in recognition of Luckow’s work with the council and his support of the 4-H program. The John W. Murphy Fund, a component of the North Dakota 4-H Foundation, provides additional funding for this award.

Luckow is a native North Dakotan and former North Dakota 4-H member. He requested that the award be used to provide leadership experiences for North Dakota 4-H youth.
