Second Annual NDSU Horse Fair Set for April 16-17

Nationally known horsewoman Lynn Palm will bring her training program to Fargo in April.

Palm will be the featured presenter at the second annual North Dakota State University Horse Fair set for April 16-17 at the NDSU Equine Center. The center is at the North Dakota Horse Park, 5180 19th Ave. N.

Palm and demonstration riders will present three one-hour sessions throughout the day April 16. Those sessions will help riders communicate with their horse, make riding fun and challenging, and select the right horse for them. She’ll hold her “Palm Partnership Training” program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 17. The program trains riders to work with their horse to achieve their goals.

She may be known best as the trainer and rider of Rugged Lark, who won the American Quarter Horse Association’s coveted Super Horse title twice. She and her husband, French rider and instructor Cyril Pittion-Rossillon, hold Palm Partnership Training schools at their facilities in Ocala, Fla., and Bessemer, Mich. Her training programs also appear regularly on RFD-TV.

Other events during the horse fair, which runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 16, include horse activities for youth, a vendor fair, a breed exposition showcasing a number of horse breeds, and Education Alley presentations. The presentations include:

  • “Forages” by Kevin Sedivec, NDSU Extension Service range management specialist and associate professor in the NDSU Animal and Range Sciences Department
  • “Equine Nutrition” by Marcy Ward, a graduate research assistant in the Animal and Range Sciences Department

An equine massage therapist, chiropractor and dentist also will be at the horse fair.

Admission for the April 16 horse fair, including Palm’s presentations, is $8 for adults, $4 for youth ages 4 to 12 and free for youth under age 4. Donate a nonperishable food item and receive $1 off the price. The cost to watch Palm’s training program April 17 is $40 per person.
