Horticulture Workshop in Carrington April 30

A spring horticulture workshop will be held at the North Dakota State University Research Extension Center in Carrington on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Gwen Hoverson, owner of Hwy 200 Greenhouse, will highlight some of the new plants available this spring. Hoverson also will present a lesson on container gardening and provide tips on creating a container filled with plants suited for your needs.

Ron Wiederholt, NDSU Extension Service waste management specialist, will discuss simple soil management techniques to help manage weeds and improve soil health.

Gerri Marchus, North Dakota Forest Service community forestry specialist, will present “Spring Tree Care Tips” and information on pruning.

The workshop will conclude with an outdoor hands-on pruning demonstration.

The Carrington Research Extension Center is 3 1/2 miles north of Carrington on U.S. Highway 281. The workshop is free of charge and is co-sponsored by NDSU, the North Dakota Forest Service and local merchants.
