NDSU Horsemanship Clinic Set for April 30-May 1 Canceled

The Hovde Horsemanship Clinic scheduled for this weekend at the North Dakota State University Equine Center has been canceled.

However, professional horseman John Hovde of Epping still will hold a horsemanship and stockmanship clinic at the Equine Center on May 20-22. The clinic will focus on how the horse and rider should work with cattle.

Hovde will help riders improve their cattle handling skills in cutting, team penning, roping, working cow-horse classes and ranch work. Every rider will be able to do a lot of individual work on cattle with Hovde on May 21-22. The May 20 session primarily will focus on riders preparing their horse to work with cattle.

The deadline for riders to register is May 12. The cost is $300 per rider. Riders must bring their own horse.

The clinic will run from noon to 8 p.m. May 20, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 21 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 22. The cost for people who want to watch any of the sessions is $20 per day. They may pay at the door.

For more information or to register, contact Bobbi Bingeman at (701) 231-7726 or bobbi.bingeman@ndsu.edu.
