June 17, 2005 North Central Research Extension Center Canola Day Set for June 29 The North Dakota State University North Central Research Extension Center in Minot will hold a Canola Day program from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 29. First, Vern Hofman, associate professor in the NDSU Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department; Kristi Tostenson, a research specialist in the same department; and Skip Hauth, president of the BioEconomy Development Corp., Grand Island, N.Y., will discuss biodiesel fuel. The North Central Research Extension Center is involved in a project to demonstrate that biodiesel made from canola oil works. The NDSU Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department converted canola oil into biodiesel for the project. Following the biodiesel presentation, Canola Day participants will have a chance to get into the field and hear from various presenters. The topics and presenters are:
