Field Day at Williston Research Extension Center Set for July 14

The annual Field Day at the North Dakota State University Williston Research Extension Center will be held Thursday, July 14. The day will begin with coffee at 8:30 a.m. (CDT). Jerry Bergman, Neil Riveland and others at the center will be in charge of the tours.

The crops field tour will begin at 9:30 a.m. NDSU research and Extension specialists will discuss new varieties of barley, wheat, durum, oats and winter wheat as well as weed control and crop diseases in small grains.

A separate horticulture program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Ernie French Center for those who enjoy flowers, gardens and winemaking.
At noon, the traditional lunch of barbecued chicken will be served and is sponsored by area agribusinesses and the Williston Chamber of Commerce’s agricultural committee.

The afternoon program will start at 1 p.m. and will feature grain drying demonstrations, as well as a pulse crop review and a discussion on the annual legume study. The program will conclude at approximately 3:15 p.m.
