Wendels Inducted into N.D. 4-H Hall of Fame

Marsha and Dennis Wendel of LaMoure, N.D., are the North Dakota 4-H Hall of Fame’s newest members.

Induction ceremonies took take place during the recent Hall of Fame banquet in Fargo. The banquet is a part of the annual Extension Youth Conference, held on the North Dakota State University campus.

Marsha and Dennis Wendel have been leaders of the Benson Bunch 4-H club for 22 and 30 years, respectively. All 12 of their children have been 4-H members.

The Wendels also have served on the LaMoure County 4-H Leaders Council and have held all of the offices on the council’s board. They have supported 4-H elsewhere in the state by serving as judges in neighboring counties. Dennis Wendel also serves on the North Dakota Fair Board.

Fellow 4-H leaders say the most important things the Wendels have done for 4-H are the rapport they have developed with the members, making sure every member is included in programs and events, and helping build the members’ self-esteem by teaching them skills and helping them succeed.
