November 3, 2005 NDSU Judging Club Hosts 6th Annual Club Calf Sale The sixth annual North Dakota State University club calf sale will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in conjunction with the North Star Classic livestock show at the Winter Show building in Valley City, N.D. The NDSU Judging Club organized the sale. Thirty prospect steers and heifers will be auctioned. Calves are halter broken and will sell at a range of prices. Ten breeders have consigned calves sired by a variety of well-known bulls, including Heatwave, Heat Seeker, Hot Spot, Cowboy Cut and Who Made Who. Calves sold at the sale are eligible to compete in the junior steer show the following day. Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the NDSU Judging Club organize the show. AgCountry Farm Credit Services sponsors it. Calves bought at the 2004 sale received numerous honors, including grand champion in Mountrail and Stutsman counties, and reserve champion in the North Dakota State Fair (open class) and Illinois State Fair. “This sale is an excellent opportunity for junior members to purchase quality animals that will do very well in the show ring,” says Deb Hatlewick of Jamestown, whose son won champion steer at the Stutsman County Fair.
