Next Walk ND Program Starts in January

The next Walk ND challenge begins Jan. 8.

Walk ND is a North Dakota State University Extension Service-sponsored program that encourages participants to work toward a goal of walking at least 10,000 steps a day to achieve better health.

Four hundred forty-four walkers recently took the Walk ND challenge to become more aware of the number of steps they walk each day. Registered participants came from 32 North Dakota counties and four other states.

Together they logged 201,402,778 steps, or an equivalent of 100,701 miles, during the eight-week program.

Walk ND is open to anyone who wants to get more physically active. They can join as individuals or groups. The cost to participate is $10 per person. All they need to do is walk and report the number of steps they’ve taken every two weeks.

Log on to the Walk ND Web site at www.walknd.com to learn more or register. Registration for the next challenge starts Dec. 19.

For more information, contact Linda Hauge at the Williams County Extension Service office at (701) 577-4590.
