Animal Agriculture Summit Set

The North Dakota State University Extension Service is a sponsor of next month’s Animal Agriculture Opportunities Summit.

The conference will be Jan. 10-11 at the Seven Seas Inn and Conference Center in Mandan.

Livestock production, processing and marketing are the summit’s focus. It is for producers, developers, and business and industry leaders who want to investigate opportunities through expanded animal agriculture.

Speakers will include Al Gustin of KBMR Radio, one of the most respected farm broadcasters in the country, and North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson.

Topics include lessons learned from beef industry leaders; animal agriculture in North Dakota today; the future of the state’s animal agriculture; marketing trends and niches; an overview of regional agricultural development projects such as ethanol plants, biodiesel and soy crush; bringing knowledge and innovations to producers; a regional outlook on dairy development; and profitability of pigs.

Costs are $50 per person for the entire conference or $25 per person for either day. The registration deadline is Jan. 5.
