NDSU to Hold Equine Showmanship Clinic

Riders will learn equine showmanship fundamentals at a clinic the North Dakota State University Equine Studies Program is holding Jan. 21 at the NDSU Equine Center in Fargo.

“This clinic is an excellent opportunity to learn or perfect your showmanship skills,” says Clare Purdy, NDSU equine science lecturer.

Participants will learn basic show maneuvers and patterns, and the skills they need to perform well. They’ll also learn how equine showmanship is judged.

The clinic is designed for Little International exhibitors, but it’s open to anyone interested in equine showmanship.

The NDSU Equine Center is two miles west of Interstate 29 on 19th Avenue North.

Clinic registration is at 8:30 a.m. The course runs from 9 a.m. to noon. If enough riders are interested in the clinic, organizers also will hold an afternoon session.

The cost of the clinic is $20 per participant. The registration deadline is Jan. 14.

For more information or to reserve a spot in the clinic, contact Purdy at (701) 231-6565 or clare.purdy@ndsu.edu.
