NDSU Extension Service Sponsors Crop Insurance Conference

A crop insurance conference, Making Crop Insurance Work Better for Managing Price and Yield Risk, is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 16, at the Ramada Plaza Suites and Convention Center in Fargo. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the conference scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and go to 4:30 p.m.

The conference is for crop insurance agents, agricultural lenders, North Dakota State University Extension Service agents, adult vocational agriculture instructors, agribusiness leaders and farmers, according to George Flaskerud, NDSU Extension Service crops economist.

The conference will offer information that can be used by producers to manage risk. Conference topics include the premium reduction plan, quality adjustment procedures, malt barley crop insurance strategies for 2006, crop yield responses to physical damage, common land units and corn insurance. North Dakota Rep. Earl Pomeroy is the keynote speaker.

Seven insurance agent continuing education credits have been approved for those in North Dakota and Minnesota and 4 for those in South Dakota. The registration fee for the conference is $75, which includes lunch and breaks.
